Daily Briefing: Grab raises US$200m in fresh funding; LTA to award six bike-sharing licenses

And Hong Kong-based Campfire Collaborative is joining Singapore's co-working fray.

Singapore-based ride-hailing major Grab has raised $200 million in fresh funding from Booking.com parent company, Booking Holdings.

The investment is part of a $3-billion ongoing funding round that Grab is seeking to complete by the year-end. It has raised over $2 billion so far, from Toyota, OppenheimerFunds, Lightspeed Ventures Partners and Macquarie Capital. That funding came at a post-money valuation of $11 billion for the Singapore-headquartered firm.

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) said that it would award licences to six bicycle-sharing operators after their full payment of licence fees.

Full licences have been granted to ofo, Mobike and SG Bike, and sandbox licences to Anywheel, Grabcycle and Qiqi Zhixiang, LTA said last month.

Hong Kong co-working space operator Campfire Collaborative Spaces has announced it will launch its first location in Singapore in Q3 of next year.

Campfire said the location will take up an entire 16-floor, 85,000 sq ft building at 139 Cecil Street, which is located in the Central Business District (CBD).

The building currently sits as an 11-storey building and is undergoing major renovation works. The additional five floors are being added, and they will feature a roof terrace with a sky pool, rooftop bar, outdoor dining area and cabanas.
